Garzapapel is a company established to provide craftsman-made paper, produced in the traditional way, one sheet at a time with deckles on all four edges; the wet-pressing felt gives both sides of the paper a slight natural grain. Sizing is done in a neutral medium, giving the paper a slight alkaline reserve (buffer). This, together with the paper's 100% cotton composition, helps to anchor in the colour and make it stable over a very long period of time.
We are committed to using only raw materials that do not cause pollution; hence we use only 100% recycled cotton, and natural farm produce – cereal derivatives and plant resins. This is our contribution to sustainable development.
We see paper as the medium on which human thought is expressed and our culture and history are set down from age to age.
Our aim is to provide the basis for artistic communication and expression.

Production Process.
Craft paper for fine art use, made entirely out of cotton.Part of the cotton is new, from cotton growers.And part of it is recycled cotton, from undyed clothing, which has been worn and washed repeatedly on its normal wash cycle.These garments have been chopped up and converted into chiffon and then into ground fibres between 0.2  and 1 mm long.According to the application for which the paper is going to be used, we combine new and recycled cotton in different proportions; thus, a paper with a higher proportion of recycled fibres will retain and fix colour better, and hence will be stronger and longer lasting.The new fibres will give the paper greater cohesion and a more regular structure.
Each sheet of paper is made individually, one at a time, with natural deckles on the four edges; depending on the use to which the paper is to be put, the deckles will be either shortish or long; thus, for a Fine Art paper the Deckles are long and irregular, giving it natural beauty.On a paper which is to be used for writing or digital printing the deckles are more discreet and elegant.

Each individual sheet of paper is left exposed to the air to dry, which gives it texture and volume. Subsequently it's cold pressed, in a process lasting from 48 to 72 hours.During this process the paper is inspected finely, and any sheet that contains imperfections is removed from the ongoing process.This is the guarantee our company gives its customers: you can rest assured that every sheet of our paper that comes into your hands has been reliably and systematically inspected by expert members of our staff during three processes.
